Yesterday, according to the Associated Press (AP), a Russian billionaire has announced crash of the „Mirax Group“: Sergei Polonsky, a Russian construction tycoon, who once said that in Russia anyone who does not succeed to become a millionaire is a loser, has announced yesterday that his once gigantic company went bankrupt. The company„Zavala Invest“ was a partner with „Mirax“ in the „Astra Montenegro“ project on construction of luxury flats. Svetozar Marovic, the present Deputy Prime Minister was a co-owner of „Zavala Invest“. „Mirax“ accepted to stop construction works, while Marovic accepted EUR 1 million as a condition to leave the whole project.

The season develops in accordance with our expectations. Water supplying was regular this summer in all tourism municipalities, and we expect the completion of works on regional water supply system. No more praying for rain since there will be enough water”- Predrag Nenezic, the Minister of Tourism, said.

The manager of the Israeli real estate agency predicts that the Montenegrin real estate market will recover, stating that the demand in Petrovac and Becici has increased. American weekly magazine BusinessWeek has been writing about potentials of the Montenegrin market. According to this magazine Montenegro and Croatia are the “hot markets” which will be the first to attract investors.

Tender Commission for development of tourism potentials wait for better times: The deadline for submitting bids on the tender for long-term lease of Velika Plaza and Ada Bojana was extended until 15th February, 2010. Tourism Minister Nenezic says that this is a demanding project that needs systematic and comprehensive analysis prior to placing any bids. Montenegrin and Russian consortium don’t give up the company from Bar: Bar-based company Marina arouses a lot of interest among bidders who on the last tender wanted to take over the public company for little money. The company “Expert Marine” is the lease-holder in the company from Bar and in Montenegrin consortium “Bemax” is the powerful construction company. The Russian investors estimated that it is enough to pay of 51 cent per share of the Bar-based company, while the Montenegrin consortium offered 43 cents.

The construction of 600-meter-long double-leaf bascule bridge on Port Milena might start in October this year, according to forecasts announced in the Directorate of Public Works. While presenting the concept solution, Dusko Bobera from “DB Inzenjering” emphasized that the purpose of constructing the new bridge over Port Milena was providing clearance for boat traffic.

Proprietors of the hotel in Becici found new partners interested in recapitalization of the company: Russian “Korston Group” will get the majority stake in hotel company “The Queen of Montenegro”. Apart from hotel management, Korston is widely known for running casinos. Since ‘game is over’ in Russia due to introducing new law that bans all casinos in the Russian Federation, they will relocate this highly profitable business to Montenegro.

Belgrade-based company takes over the management of public parking lots in the municipality of Tivat: From now on, citizens of Tivat will have to pay for parking service at every car park in the city. Local authorities announce introducing new operator as the best way to overcome the issue of on-street parking in Tivat.
