Training Ship of Montenegrin Navy Sails from Boka Bay Today: tomorrow night sailing boat “Jadran” will sail for Barcelona, where it will head the convoy of around 40 sailing boats, research ships and other vessels which will symbolize a responsible relationship of men to marine ecosystems and which will take place as a part of UNESCO’s congress on the environmental protection which will be hosted by this Spanish city.
Tivat – Training ship of Montenegrin Navy, sailing boat “Jadran” will sail from the Port of Kotor tomorrow night at 6 pm for a 22-day cruise around the Mediterranean.
“Jadran” will sail for Barcelona, where it will head the convoy of around 40 sailing boats, research ships and other vessels which will symbolize a responsible relationship of men to marine ecosystems and which will take place as a part of UNESCO’s congress on the environmental protection which will be hosted by this Spanish city.
Commander of “Jadran”, Lieutenant Commander Predrag Supic and 60 members of his crew conducted last preparations at Tivat’s Pine Riva for this 2,000 nautical miles long journey. Crew loaded food and drinks to “Jadran” yesterday and conducted final preparations on the ship and its’ equipment.
Beside the crew, 29 civilians from the Institute for Marine Biology from Kotor, environmental NGOs and media will sail to Barcelona. Deputy Commander of Montenegrin Navy, Captain Zeljko Hercegova will also be aboard this vessel.
After it leaves Kotor tomorrow night, “Jadran” will sail for the Italian port of Callari at Sardinia, where it will stay for two days following its’ scheduled arrival on 29 September. On 1 October, sailing ship will proceed for its’ two day trip from Sardinia to Barcelona.
In this Spanish port, “Jadran” will stay till 10 October when it will sail back for Montenegro. Its’ arrival is expected a week later.
During its’ stay in Calari and Barcelona, this sailing ship will be opened for visits of local people.
Forthcoming journey for Italy and Spain is 20th international cruise of this magnificent sailing boat in 75 years of “Jadran’s” service.
