Results of the Research on the Use of Computers, Internet and Mobile Phones by the Citizens Presented at INFOFEST: Super fast ADSL Internet service of company T-Com is used by 36 percent of citizens, which marks the highest figure of users for any of the services for accessing global Net available on Montenegrin market. Internet is used by 41 percent of Montenegrin citizens, this survey shows.

Budva – Super fast ADSL Internet service of company T-Com is used by 36 percent of citizens, which marks the highest figure of users for any of the services for accessing global Net available on Montenegrin market. This, according to the research on the level and means of used computer, Internet, fixed and mobile telephony, which has been conducted by CEMI and Agency for Telecommunications made public at INFOFEST yesterday.

WiMAX service provided by competing M:tel company, according to the same survey, is used by three percent of users. Despite slow connection achieved through dialup, this type of Internet access is still used by 25 percent of users.

Internet is used by 41 percent of citizens. Municipalities on the north of the country have lower figures than the Republic’s average, except for Niksic, where Internet is used by 47 percent of interviewees.

According to this survey, the biggest number of Internet users is in Kotor – 67 percent – which is by whole 25 percent more than the number of users in the capital.

The smallest number of Internet users has been marked in Andrijevica, with 13 percent market.

Biggest number of Internet users are young persons, in between ages of 18 and 27.

Results of this research also suggest that men in Montenegro use Internet more than women do.

Research of the Agency for Telecommunications and CEMI also show that 50 percent of users in Montenegro who have incomes higher than Euro 99 posses the commuter, which is by 11 percent higher in comparison to those who earn in between Euro 100 and 299.

57 percent of those questioned have one SIM card, 24 percent posses two, six percent posses more than two, while 13 percent of interviewees do not use cell-phone.

Detailed data on the results of this research, which were not made public at yesterday’s presentation, will be made public at Agency’s website at www.agentel.cg.yu.

During yesterday’s first working day of INFOFEST, a panel discussion entitled “UNESCO and Information emancipation of the society” took place. Assisting General Director of UNESCO for Communication and Information addressed the participants. Abdul Vahid Kahn is the highest ranking UNESCO official who has come to Montenegro until now.

According to INFOFEST’s program, all three mobile operators doing business in Montenegro will present their achievements today.
