Montenegrin alpinists wait for the blizzard to pass: Expedition in the base camp ABC at 6.400 meters above sea-level are waiting for the weather to improve for four days: The expedition has gone through first phase of the high-altitude preparations, with constant trainings and climbing the North Col (7.100 m ASL). The plan for the forthcoming period is to climb above Col up to 7.400 m ALT, come back and stay overnight at the Col, and then to return again to the base camp. Niksic – The members of the Montenegrin expedition to Mount Everest, which are climbing the highest peak of the world as a part of international expedition consisting of 19 people organized by Belgrade-based agency “Extreme summit team”, in the base camp ABC, at 6.400 meters above sea level, are waiting for the weather conditions to improve for 4 days already.
In the best interest of personal safety, success and team compatibility, adequate training and excellent physical condition are required. After 40 days, the expedition has gone through first phase of the high-altitude preparations, with constant trainings and climbing the North Col (7.100 m ASL). The plan for the forthcoming period is to climb above the Col up to 7.400 m ALT, come back and stay overnight at Col, and then to return again to the base camp. Strong wind and heavy snow on the Himalayas are impeding them in doing so for days.
“All of us are in good health and we have passed every challenge thus far without difficulties. I have communicated with everybody via satellite connection and we are all ready to face the new challenges”, the veteran alpinist and a member of the Management of Niksic-based Mountaineering and Skiing Association “Javorak” Zdravko Vujicic said for Daily “Vijesti”.
By the end of the month when the weather conditions allow it, the expedition led by one of the most experienced alpinists on the Balkans and the owner of the Agency, Dragan Jacimovic, will head towards the summit. The first overnight stay is set for the North Col at the camp C1. Afterwards, alpinists will take the north ridge to get at the camp C2 (7600 m ASL). From there, after midnight, they will set off via Three steps and they should summit the peak at 11 a.m.

In the Montenegrin team there are also Ivan Lakovic, from Podgorica-based “Mali alpinisticki klub”, then Djordjije Vujicic, Dusan Vujic, Dragutin Vujovic and Marko Blecic from Niksic.
