Visit-Montenegro.com: Life is more precious

Alpinists abandoned their summit attempt: The international expedition with five Montenegrin alpinists decided to abandon any further attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest, also known as „The Roof of the World“ at 8.850 meters height above sea level. This decision was made by the expedition’s leader, Dragan Jacimovic, and other alpinists gave their consent to it.

Podgorica – The international expedition with five Montenegrin alpinists decided to abandon any further attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest, also known as „The Roof of the World“ at 8.850 meters height above sea level.

This decision was made by the expedition’s leader, Dragan Jacimovic, with consent of all alpinists.

“From the camp ABC which touches the peak of all peaks, our eyes look disappointed, empty without passion. Our leader decided not to let us go towards the summit. I believe he made the right decision. The summit will stay where it is, as well as every other summit in the world and back home,” a Slovenian alpinist, Simona Pogac, wrote in yesterday’s report.

On his web-site, Jacimovic states that the decision to give up the ascent of “the roof of the world” was “difficult, but human lives are the most important”.

“Everest stays in the same place where it is and waits for some other opportunity. There is a lot of new snow and the wind maintains its speed of 80-90 km/h. In such conditions climbers would be exposed to unacceptable risk,” it is said in yesterday’s report.

Pogac mentions that the most of members of the expedition, which includes Montenegrin alpinists Djordjije Vujicic, Dusan Vujic, Dragutin Vujovic, Marko Blecic and Ivan Lakovic, is now in the base camp at 5 thousand meters height above sea level.

Due to bad weather conditions the decision is irrevocable.

If one thing stands out more than another in importance among the results of this is that man’s capacities are still growing and by exercising they expand. There is still plenty of time for having more expeditions.
