The evacuation team of the Maritime Safety Department in Bar successfully evacuated a Spanish citizen: Rescue boat SAR-1, which was recently taken over by the Maritime Safety Department, had a successful début two nights ago in Bar – the Office of Search and Rescue reacted timely under the command of Chief Captain Vlado Radonjic, and the Spanish citizen Ana Ester Nives Lovito (30) was rescued.
Bar – Rescue boat SAR-1, which was recently taken over by the Maritime Safety Department (UPS), had a successful début two nights ago in Bar –the Office of Search and Rescue within UPS under the command of Chief Captain Vlado Radonjic, reacted timely and the Spanish citizen Ana Ester Nives Lovito (30) was rescued from worsening health condition, due to which she had to interrupt the cruising from Dubrovnik to Greece, and leave the boat on stretchers in the pitch darkness.
After she was attended by the doctors in the Bar’s hospital, the Spaniard was in a stable condition and she is now restored to health.
“Two nights ago, around 10:25 pm, Coastal radio-station Bar Radio informed us that a women suffering from hydrocephalus is on board of the passengers’ ship “Empres” traveling on line Dubrovnik-Santorini, and who needed to be evacuated immediately. In that moment, the ship needed one and a half hour to Bar, and they announced the arrival to Bar’s anchorage 15 minutes before midnight, which gave us enough time to organize the activity properly”, Jasmina Isic, the director of UPS, said yesterday to “Vijesti”.
Pointing out the precise and responsible work of the operator on duty of Coastal radio-station who ask “Empres” immediately about the medical history and how to debark the patient, Isic added, also, that “Jadroagent” was immediately named as local agent ship, and that sanitary inspector and border police were informed about everything.
While waiting for the boat, the action in UPS just before the midnight was performed by the textbook, with the maximum respect of the deadlines and procedures. Already at 11:10pm, based on medical history information, the sanitary inspector Mico Zivanovic confirmed that the saviors were not endangered, and the evacuation of the Spaniard from the ship was formally approved.
“SAR-1 left the port at midnight, and besides our crew there were also the ER team, sanitary inspector, police officers and ship’s agent. Twenty minutes later, port authorities went on board of the passenger’s ship, and our and the team of ER started with the evacuation. In less than 10 minutes, the patient with her companion and the luggage was carried on the stretchers on board of SAR-1. (These stretchers are also used for the evacuation by a helicopter.) Around 40 minutes after midnight, port authorities finished their part of the job on the ship, and 10 minutes later SAR-1 was already on the pier. The patient was then transported to the hospital by an Ambulance”, Isic concluded and congratulated all participants on successfully accomplished mission.
