Bar – Three young men from Petrovac on a small boat (HN 639) were winched to safety in the rescue operation of the Search and Rescue Division of the Maritime Safety Department. (UPS)

The Executive Director of UPS, Jasmina Isic, told the Daily News “Vijesti” that the coastguard radio station was informed by the patrol vessel in Bar on Saturday at 6:26 pm that three people at the overturned boat near Petrovac were tossed into the water and they “called for help after they swum to the nearest cove between St. Stefan and Petrovac.”

“Commanding officer of the border police in Budva confirmed the information and our salvage ship SAR-1 immediately left the port of Bar. Since the small boat was unapproachable, when the rescue ship reached the spot where the accident happened, a rope was thrown in order to draw the boat nearer. One of the three lads was accommodated on SAR-1, while the other two were seated in the small boat in order to prevent her from overturning while being tugged.” – Isic said.

This is the second successful operation of UPS on the salvage ship SAR-1 in this month. The first one was on 10th June when SAR-1 took over ill Spanish citizen Ana Ester Nives Lovito (30) from the passenger ship “Empres” cruising from Dubrovnik to Santorini who was later hospitalized.
