Visit-Montenegro.com: New version of “The Odyssey”
Budva Theatre City: The theater group “Titanic” from Germany which won wide approval in Budva ten years ago arrives this summer with the witty play inspired by Homer’s Odyssey. “The Odyssey” tells the story of the ruthless director of a traveling theatre group who wants to stage his version of Homer’s Odyssey. The overseas container, serving as a stage, contains the wondrous world of the theatre company's own odyssey: chests with labels such as Hades and Circe appear and suggest that the magic of the world of theatre and the attraction of Homer's epic are mingling.
Budva- Theatre program within Budva Theatre City continues tonight at 10 pm, on the square in front of the Old City by the guest performance of one more spectacular street theatre, which as the Australian “Strange Fruit”-which thrilled the audience in Budva recently, is recognized worldwide and it is a regular guest on all significant international festivals.
The point at issue is “Titanic” from Germany, which won wide approval in Budva ten years ago when, in front of the marina, they staged the miraculous performance about the most luxurious passenger liner. This summer the theater group” Titanic” arrives with witty play inspired by Homer’s Odyssey but moved into modern times-relentless director of traveling theater group tries to stage his own version of this classical work but in the process of staging the play he gets lost in his own bizarre world. The story begins in a Greek fast food restaurant “Poseidon Grill” which should provide space for the big theater semi-trailer truck by which the overseas container, with the stage equipment, is transported. The container is full of all sorts of incredible things- chests with labels of Hades, Circe and Cyclops are rolling all over revealing the irresistible world of “The Odyssey”.
The producer of one of the most awarded street theaters who signs this play, as well, is Frank Heuel. The actors are: Stony Assmann, Michael Hain, Clair Howells, Thomas Kuhnert, Georg Lennarz…
Stage design and special effects are done by Martin Mulder and Robert Schiller while Gundolf Nandico is responsible for music and composition.
