Herceg Novi- The fourth international summer classical guitar festival opens tonight at 9 pm in Herceg Novi by the concert performance of Aleksei Arhipovski. Driven by the idea to demonstrate possibilities of traditional folk instrument balalaika, Arhipovski will perform diverse program consisting of Russian folk songs, works of Russian composers Mussorgsky and Tariverdiev, his own original compositions as well as arrangements of classical works of Beethoven, Bach and Paganini.
Arhipovski studied balalaika at the Academy of Music in Moscow. He performed all around the world and he is also an active member of the public movement “Etnosphere” and “Mamacabo”festival, which is, actually, the untraditional trend in the Russian music world.
Eight concerts of artists from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia and Netherlands will be held within six days of the festival as well as master courses and lectures.
Art director Srdjan Bulatovic emphasizes that the festival has unusual and interesting concept since, besides recognized and famous guitar-players who achieved enviable success, it promotes those guitarists who play different music trends which are currently very popular. He reminds that the concerts of fado music had their premiere on “Guitar Art Summer Fest” in Montenegro, and “Rosenberg Trio” also performed there. Following this tradition this summer the audience on Kanli kula (Kanli Tower) will have the opportunity to listen to Zlatko Manojlovic’s electric guitar performance, who will play his authorial compositions, as well as “Trio Balkan Strings” that, besides classical music, will play ethno music, rock and jazz. Bulatovic believes that this conception of classical guitar festival in Herceg Novi promotes and popularizes classical music, as well. He highlights that music should follow the ways of modern living.
Within the festival, in the segment named “Guitar Visual Art”, in the Art Gallery “Sue Ryder” the exhibition of caricatures “Gitara i ja-Crnogorska zica” (“Guitar and me – the Montenegrin string”) will be opened at 7 pm. Montenegrin caricaturists Luka Lagator and Darko Drljevic will exhibit 24 caricatures.
