Visit-Montenegro.com: In the Memory of the Lost City
The program dedicated to Pristan held on the plateau of Marina in Bar: Inhabitants of Pristan left their homes in 1976, and the place where the city used to be was leveled to the ground for the sake of expanding the port of Bar. The group of its inhabitants, emotionally tied to their lost city, came up with the idea how to rescue the city from oblivion.
Bar- The event “Pristanu s ljubavlju” (“To Pristan with Love”), which is the 9th of this kind, was organized, in the memory of the town Pristan, two nights ago in front of numerous visitors on the plateau of marina in Bar.
Pristan was situated under the Hill Volujica and in the mid seventies of XX century it was destroyed for the port of Bar had to be expanded.
For the first time here, NGO “Pristan” organized festival of fish and wine, which were served for free as well as priganice and beer. The event was under the sponsorship of the municipality of Bar. The hostess of the program Nedjeljka Cica Pavlović said that Pristan is” both reality and emotion”, adding that once small settlement on the coast-Pristan-was turned into the centre of economy and culture and named Novi Bar (New Bar) at the beginning of XX century.
“Inhabitants of Pristan, who are attached to the town which embedded its future into modern Bar, evoked the memories of the former town with the aim to save from oblivion its emotional and historical importance. Since last year, due to this event, the image of Pristan became the part of new civilization milieu, and it now represents a bond between historical and modern ambiance of Bar”, the organizers pointed out.
Guest stars of the program were: opera singer Tamara Nikezić, folklore group “Zora”, cultural club”KUD Jedinstvo”, Gula and “Katapult”, majorettes from Bar, the group „Tri kvarta“ from Kotor, brass music group from Đenovići and the band „Frenki“from Podgorica.
A prelude to the program was parade of old wood boats in the marina, which was organized by the local nautical society and the Mediterranean Center of Photography.
