Visit-Montenegro.com: Popularization of Rural Tourism
A wide variety of tourist opportunities exist throughout rural Montenegro but what is needed is to identify new ways to bring tourists into these areas and to market previously untapped local resources and attractions. A nongovernmental association- “Zagrad Montenegro” aims at popularizing and developing rural tourism and at protecting cultural-historical monuments of the village Zagrad.
Nikšić- One more Nongovernmental Association- “Zagrad Montenegro”- is started in Nikšić. The principal aim is popularization and development of rural tourism and organic agriculture, cultivation and establishment of relations towards environment as well as promotion and protection of cultural-historical monuments of the village Zagrad, which is situated within Župa nikšićka.
“Zagrad is recognizable for its authenticity which wasn’t developed in almost any respect, so far. Only the mineral resources, with the unique quality on the Balkans, have been used”-Ivan Đurović, the head of the newly established Association, said.
He pointed out that Zagrad is recognized for its cultural-historical monuments, such as Gradina, the hill where the remains of the ancient culture are located as well as for the tombstone of Nikša, which is 500 years old. The village Zagrada is known by its natural attractions and organic agriculture, which contribute to the development of rural tourism.
