Budva-The co-owner of the Singapore-based hotel corporation “Amanresorts” arrived in Budva yesterday. He will be staying at the villa “Miločer” during few following days-it was reported to the Daily Press “Vijesti”.
According to unofficial sources, Adrian Zecha, whose company was the main lessee of the three Montenegrin summer resorts-Sveti Stefan, Villa Miločer and Kraljičina plaža, came to Budva in order to arrange details on further partnership with the new investor -“Restis Group”.
Due to financial problems “Amanresorts” gave up reconstruction works on the city-hotel Sveti Stefan, but this was never confirmed officially. For three years this unique hotel complex was locked and no major construction works were performed. New investors, the “Restis Group”, agreed to take over the entire project under the condition that Singapore-based company were the managers of the project.
Zecha, who was staying in Budva last year, promised to open Sveti Stefan-completely reconstructed- this summer as well as to invest EUR 75 million. However, he failed to keep his word, except for “the new-old” Miločer, which was opened under the name Villa “Miločer”, four months behind the schedule.
Yesterday, the management of the “Restis Group” withheld comment concerning the arrival of Zecha. The only thing they did confirm was that he had arrived in Budva.
After they announced that they reached an agreement with “Amanresorts”, the “Restis Group“threw open to the public that the reconstruction works on Sveti Stefan would start by mid-September. According to them, it will be opened in May 2010. They didn’t want to comment “the fate” of the hotel “Kraljičina plaža”, which will be demolished completely and a new hotel as well as apartments for sale will be built instead.
