Visit-Montenegro.com: The Constructor Gave Guarantees
Croatian consortium has fulfilled conditions for starting the new project. Yesterday the Council for the construction of the highway concluded that Croats have provided all requested guarantees and in the following days they will examine the enclosed documentation with the adviser.
Yesterday, consortium of Croatian firms led by the Constructor from Split, which got the concession to build the highway Bar-Boljari, submitted to the Government financial guarantees about EUR 400 million worth, which is the condition for starting the construction of the highway.
“Under the contract we were obliged to provide the guarantees for a half value of the first section Smokovac - Mateševo, that is EUR 400 million, before 9 September. We provided guarantees worth several million more. Since the money has bee provided in the middle of this month, we plan to start preparatory works, out of which some will be done on the field, Želko Žderić, CEO of the Constructor said to Vijesti.
He says that the main works will last from five to six months.
“There is a technological process because none step can be skipped. Everything shall be prepared from ground testing to construction of access roads and starting of the concrete works on the construction of bridges, tunnels and a road. Main works will start in spring,” Žderić said.
Until 9 December the Constructor must provide guarantees for another EUR 400 million. Žderić does not expect any problems.
“As we did not have any problems to secure money until now I don’t see any reason to have difficulties in providing it in the following months,” he said.
Žderić also said something about negative comments on his project.
“As 9 September and the time limit for providing financial guarantees were getting closer, the number of those who did not praise this project was increasing and their criticism was more and more fierce, they even knew better than we did that we would not be able to collect money. I do not know what they have to say now. I guess that no one doubts anymore that the highway Bar-Boljari will be constructed. I personally have never doubted,” he said.
Yesterday the Council for the construction of the highway concluded that Croats have provided all requested guarantees and in the following days they will examine the enclosed documentation with the adviser.
The Council gave approval to “Monteput” to perform professional supervision of the contract and it has been considering solutions for expropriation.
