Munk goes north

Canadian billionaire Peter Munk, who has already invested mainly on the Montenegrin coast in Tivat, will spread his empire to the north of the country through his company Adriatic Marinas.

Munk plans to purchase land near the Jezerine ski resort at Bjelasica, near Kolašin, where he intends to build another mountain resort and helicopter platform.

Lawyers representing Adriatic Marinas announced on Monday that the purchase of the 25,000 square metres of land, at an altitude of 1,800 metres, had been authorised.

It is also expected Munk and his company will build a hotel and apartment complex as well, although detailed plans have yet to be revealed.
“We are happy that Peter Munk, in a way, became one of us,” said Mile Šuković, representative of the Kolasin district.

Šuković hopes that Munk’s arrival to the area will generate new investments for the north of the country.
