Montenegrin artists go international
The work of a handful of prominent Montenegrin artists has crossed international borders this week, as their works go on exhibit at the Hofburg castle in Austria.
Supported by the Agency for Int e r n-ational Scientific, Ed u c-ational, Cultural, and Technical Co operation (ZAMTES), 22 professors of the Cetinje Faculty of Fine Arts are showcasing a number of paintings, sculptures and ph otographic pieces, beginning February 2.
The Cetinje Faculty of Fine Arts was established in 1988, as a new member of the University of Montenegro.
Expansion in the development of Mo n tenegro’s contemporary fine art occurred in the second half of the 20th century, and more so in the ex-Yugoslav period. Over the past two decades, the faculty has come to be known as a major promoter not only of arts education, but also of further growth of the fine arts scene. It offers four Bachelor of Arts progra m mes, including painting, sculpture, graphics, and graphic design, as well as a Ma s ters programme.
