More than 15,500 Foreigners on Holidays in Budva

Budva – Nearly two thirds of all guests in Montenegro are spending their holidays in Budva. The fact that this number is similar to the one from last year is, among other things, a bad weather for this time of year.

Especially good use of capacity is noted in private accommodation, where the number of tourists exceeds last years’ figures from mid-June 2007 by one half.

According to the official statistics released by the National Tourist Organization, 26,523 tourists are staying in Montenegro, which is 3,649, or 15 percent, more than during the same period last year.

Director of Budva’s Tourist Organization, Jelena Radjenovic stated that little less than 16,500 guests are staying at Budva’s Riviera at the moment, which is higher than during the same period last year by nine percent.

“From the total number of registered guests, 15,555 came from abroad, while 932 came from Montenegro. Guests are mainly accommodated in the hotels, where we have 11,250 guests, which is 4,000 more than last week.

Current use of hotel capacities at Budva’s Riviera is, still, higher than it had been last year, and that by one percent. Hoteliers are accommodating 10,675 foreign and 575 domestic guests”, Radjenovic stated.

She added that there were 98 foreign guests who are spending their holidays in Budva Riviera’s camping sites, which is almost two times more than was the case last year.

“Bearing in mind that there was no accurate data on the number of beds offered by the owners of the private accommodation in Budva’s Riviera, we are introducing mere estimates. According to these, estimated number of 5,139 guests, or almost one third more than in the same period last year, is staying in this type of accommodation. House owners are hosting 4,782 foreign and 932 domestic guests”, Radjenovic has concluded.
