Visit-Montenegro.com : Those Who Were Unrealistic About the Prices get Penalties from the Market

Minister of Tourism and Environmental Protection, Predrag Nenezic stated yesterday that those who comment that the tourist season would be worse than the previous one did not know enough about the strategy of tourism development, or they have only accepted it verbally.

Podgorica – Minister of Tourism and Environmental Protection, Predrag Nenezic stated yesterday that those who comment that the tourist season would be worse than the previous one did not know enough about the strategy of tourism development, or they have only accepted it verbally.

“It seems to them that the season is not good, as there are no jams and beaches do not seem packed. Montenegro is the destination which is moving towards the development of high-quality tourism. By saying that, I do not mean elite tourism, I rather refer to the quality in each segment of its’ offer.

When we planned this season, out main aim had been to make it longer, to have better use of capacities in the pre-season and after-season and to make sure that there is not so much pressure during the height of the season. This is exactly what is going on and there is no reason to worry”, Nenezic said.

Despite the fact that the Ministry insists on a realistic ratio between the price and what is being provided, there is concern that some of the participants in the tourist offer, according to Nenezic, have increased the prices, without doing the same with the quality of what they are providing.

“We shall never support the decrease in prices, but we will support the increase in quality. The fact that prices do not correspond with what is being offered is being punished at the market. For the time being, budget is being filled with planned dynamics and the influx has even exceeded what had been projected”, Nenezic maintained.

He emphasized that Montenegro had to be make sure it works on the improvement of its’ offer and its’ incomes, while all the rest would come later.

“At the beginning of the season, we have reminded that we did not expect spectacular results, as it was necessary to start with healing some of the problems we have had in order to make a turn in the development of our tourism over the upcoming two years,”, Minister Nenezic concluded.
