Herceg Novi – Adriatic shipyard at Bijela notes maximum capacity use. Marketing Director, Petar Tusup says that 40 ships have been repaired since the beginning of the year and that all docks would be taken by mid-September.
“74 vessels have been repaired at Bijela during the last year, most of them arriving from foreign market. Our revenues had come up to Euro 27,072 Million, which means that our incomes were Euro 506,000”, he said.
Seven merchant ships are being repaired at the moment. Owners are companies from Cyprus, Slovakia, Switzerland, Malta, Italy and Montenegrin navy’ training-sailing-boat “Jadran.”
“We have agreed four more repairs. These ships are from Cyprus, Lithuania, Germany and Britain. This guarantees the full use of our capacities by 20 September and a bit over that date.
In comparison to the same period last year, when we have achieved a record with the number of vessels we have repaired, situation at the moment is somewhat more favorable.
It is hard to say if we can maintain the same tempo by the end of the year, as this business is known for sudden changes, but we can state that we are most satisfied with how our business is progressing so far”, Tusup stated.
After two unsuccessful tenders for the selling of the state-owned shares in this Shipyard, the third tender will be made public this fall.
Privatization of this company should provide necessary capital for its’ further development.
