Works on the Spatial Plan for the Future Complex in Meljine have Began: western side of this object would be for tourist, while the eastern side would be a medical complex. Medical complex will be a hospital with diagnostic and rehabilitation center and it would have 385 beds. Tourist part will be a five-star super-luxurious hotel, with private swimming pools and gardens for penthouse guests.

Herceg Novi – As the process of takeover of the Center of Army’s Medical Services “Meljine” (CVMU) by the new owner “Atlas Group” is underway, local authorities in Herceg Novi launched procedure of spatial planning for this complex which will take out 50,300 on the immediate coast.

Mayor of Herceg Novi, Dejan Mandic has signed the decision which orders the start of activities on the Project of the Spatial Plan for the building of Health and Tourist Complex at Meljine.

Program’s task, set before planners and builders who are working on this Spatial Plan, includes preconditions which are in agreement with announcements which were put forward by the investor so far. It envisages that Western side of this location would have tourist, while the Eastern side would be a medical complex.

Medical complex will be a hospital with diagnostic and rehabilitation center, it would have 385 beds, in comparison to currently available 250.

It is also envisaged that this health center would have department for radiology and radio-therapy, with the most modern diagnostic technology and Gama-camera for radio-therapy.

It would also have a bio-chemical and hematology laboratory, department of microbiology, prosecture, four surgery rooms with 10 to 15 beds of half-intensive and intensive care.

Surgery-department should also have 30 to 35 beds, while ORL, ophthalmology and plastic surgery would have 10 beds each. Internal medicine will have between 40 and 50 beds. Plan envisages coronary unit, as well as units for half-intensive and intensive cares. Patients who are waiting for therapy in hyperbaric chamber would also be placed at the intensive care unit.

Plan also envisages oncology department with 10 to 15 beds, as well as the maternity ward with 12 beds.

Cabinets for internal medicine, cardio-surgery with ultra-sound, as well as cabinets for gastroenterology, surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and neuropsychiatry will be, therefore, all placed side by side. Complex will also have admissions office, transfusion unit, pharmacy and management premises.

It is planned that the new building for rehabilitation would have additional 60 to 80 beds. At the moment, rehabilitation part has 150 beds. New object will be categorized with five stars.

Tourist part of the complex, as program-task reads, should be a five-star-hotel and should also include apartments for rental.

Capacities of this tourist part are not clearly stated, but there is a detailed description of apartments, half of which would have two beds. Beside these and single and three-bed apartments, top-floor of these cascade buildings would also have the most luxurious apartments, with their own swimming pools and gardens.

Tourist part of the complex will also have sports fields, restaurant, gym, swimming pools. Beach in front of the entire complex will be expanded and enlarged.

“Atlas Group” should take over the complex by the end of this year. Spatial project should be completed within three-months-deadline. New owners announce they would start with the building of diagnostic center of the medical part of the complex.

Number of Floors is Not Limited

Project task does not contain limitation on the number of floors. Original intention of the new owner had been to build a 17-floor object, but it got rejected by the Tender Commission and local authorities. At certain points, there has even been a mention of twice smaller number of floors.

At this point, however, number of floors is not mentioned. However, document does state, among other things, that special attention should be dedicated to “town’s panorama from the sea, in direction of Savine Monastery” and that the builders should “stick to the principles of environmental and ambience sustainability.”

As of July, CVMU Will Finance Itself

As of 1 July, CVMU, which is still under the auspices of the Army of Montenegro, will finance itself from its’ own sources. In cooperation with the local authorities and specialists from the local Medical Center, specialist cabinets’ operated during this summer. All services are charged, except for emergency cases and labors of women from Herceg Novi area. 270 employees have average salaries of Euro 380.

As of next year, cardiology patients from territory of Montenegro will be sent for rehabilitation to Meljine at the expense of Montenegrin Health Fund.
