Delegation of European Commission Visits Zabljak: Representative of the European Commission in Brussels, Ana de Ligne and head of Operational Center of the EC’s delegation in Podgorica, Nikola Bertolini stayed in Zabljak yesterday, announcing that this organization would continue with projects which had been originally supported by EAR.
Zabljak – A representative of the European Commission in Brussels, Ana de Ligne and head of Operational Center of the EC’s delegation in Podgorica, Nikola Bertolini visited Zabljak yesterday.
“New projects are being prepared in Brussels for next year, so we needed to come here and prepare their implementation and assist local authorities.
Some of the consultants have already provided their estimates of the situation on the field. We have heard what the priorities were and we understand it is important to invest in projects which aim at tourism development.
Investments are necessary in the situation with waste-waters, communal waste, development of cultural and social objects and improvement of know-how of employees”, Ana de Ligne stated, adding that this town was important as a center of of all Durmitor’s municipalities and it must be preserved through sustainable development and respect for natural resources.
Bertolini announced that Podgorica’s office would manage and implement funds and instruments for accession to the EU.
“We understand that Zabljak is less developed in comparison with other municipalities. We have been here to hear out the what the ideas and priorities are”, Bertolini said, adding that the accession of Montenegro to the EU will be accompanied with the increase of funds which require the development of human resources.
President of Zabljak’s Municipality, Dobrica Sljivancanin stated that this European Commission’s delegation intended to continue where EAR left off back in 2004.
“Projects about which we have discussed will be expanded with the new ones, as required at that point of work. The talks which we have had aimed at establishing what is needed to turn Zabljak into a high quality tourist destination.
Priority is to resolve problems with communal waste, build collectors for processing of waste waters and conduct works at the communal infrastructure.
These and other projects, which we have discussed, require new administrative capacities which do not exist in Zabljak. We also discussed how we could overcome these problems”, Sljivancanin stated.
Delegation also met with the vice-president of local Municipality, Vasilije Jaksic, who thanked EAR, whose job would be taken over by the Commission.
