Niksic – First module for the second generation candidates for mountaineering guides ended the night before last at Vucje near Niksic. Course is organized by Mountaineering Association of Montenegro (PSCG) and Austrian-Montenegrin Partnership (ACP).
Lecturers from the Association of Austrian Alpine Guides, Bernard Stuner and Monica Fritz conducted an off-the-track training course with ropes. Developed skills included mountaineering, orienteering, map-reading, weather forecasting and, most importantly, safety of tourists. Guest-lecturers also delivered a course of the first aid and a lecture about biosphere.
Course for first Montenegrin “Sherpa guides” has been completed last year by 10 candidates. 15 candidates are attending the course in 2008.
Branislav Perovic, president of PSCG reminded that the aim of this course was to increase the quality of tourist offer.
“Number of mountain-climbers and nature lovers is increasing among the tourists. And, the state has recognized the importance of training the sufficient number of guides for these tourists”, Perovic said.
Vladimir Jablan, ACP’s manager added that candidates will pass three more modules by June next year, after which they will try to pass the test for the international license for mountain guides.
