Visit-Montenegro.com : 3,5 Million Passengers Enter Montenegro
Government Adopts Information About the Control of the State Border: during the first six months, state border has been crossed by 3, 5 Million passengers, which is by 14 percent more than during the same period last year. Traffic of vehicles has increased by 15 percent, while the traffic of vessels and aircraft has risen by 24 and 10 percent, respectively.
Podgorica – Government has adopted a Strategy for Integrated Control of Migration for the period 2008 to 2013, accompanied with the Action Plan, whose aim is to resolve – in an efficient and sustainable manner – issue of migration, in line with the rules of the European Union.
Assistant Minister for Interior and Public Authority, Osman Subasic stated that the activities defined in this Strategy posed a sound basis for the management of migrations, which will allow Montenegro to place such movements under control, thus contributing to the regional stability as a whole.
Introduction of legal, regulatory and institutional framework is a guarantee for implementation of policies regulating migration movements in Montenegro”, Subasic stated, following the session of the government.
For the complete control and management of migration, in his words, Montenegro has, until now, adopted Laws on the Asylum, Citizenship, Employment of Foreigners, Registration of the Place of Residence, etc.
“We expect the Law on Foreigners to be adopted by the end of the year”, Subasic emphasized.
Assistant Director to the Police Directorate, Vesko Vukadinovic stated that the police has prevented 171 illegal crossings of border during the half of the year, discovered 107 forged passports and also found 118 persons with issued arrest warrants.
Nine fire arms has been temporarily confiscated, 689 boxes of cigarettes, 29 motor vehicles, 26 kilograms of explosives and large quantities of food and agricultural products, as well as a small quantity of heroin”, Vukadinovic said.
